GAIN x University of Edinburgh – Prosper Social Investment Society – Pitch Night
The Proper Social Investment Society is seeking volunteer judges for their upcoming Pitch Night. The Investment Panel will be composed of industry professionals and investors who will review and rigorously question analysts’ developed equity investment theses. During the evening, participants will present a fully developed stock pitch, followed by a structured Q&A session with the panel. Detailed proposals will be circulated one week in advance, allowing judges time to assess the analysis and prepare thoughtful questions. Looking for professionals with experience evaluating stock pitches. They are particularly keen to assemble a diverse panel of judges, welcoming a broad range of perspectives, backgrounds, and levels of seniority. Judges are typically invited to: Probe the strength and differentiation of the investment thesis Challenge key assumptions, risks, and valuation frameworks Assess clarity of communication, conviction, and commercial awareness Pitch Night offers an excellent opportunity to engage with motivated student investors, contribute to the development of emerging talent, and support a growing community focused on rigorous, responsible investing.

GIIP ‘Investment Career Toolkit’ Virtual Panel
Our GAIN Investment Insight Programme 2026, wraps up with this final session discussing what their next steps are. This event will start with the group reflecting on the GIIP programme to date, before handing over to volnteers for a 50 minute panel. The event will close with the GAIN Team promoting the GAIN Empower Investment Internship Programme 2027! We are seeking 3 volunteers within HR and early careers recruitment or investment professionals heavily involved in the recruitment process. You will give advice on how best to find internship opportunities, how to excel in an interview and what the students can be doing in the meantime to build their skills.

No! We are always looking for new volunteers to help drive GAIN’s mission and would love to hear from you. We couldn’t do what we do without our wonderful network of volunteers.
With the exception of school talks which always require a female volunteer, men are welcome to volunteer at our events. If female-only volunteers are required, this will be specified on the event post.
In this scenario, we will always prioritise volunteers from our sponsor firms. After this, we choose based on those who most closely match the volunteer request.
Absolutely! Feel free to share the latest volunteer newsletter with them or direct them to the page to fill out our Volunteer Registration form.
We welcome volunteers at all stages in their investment career – from those in their first role in the industry through to CIOs and CEOs. We’re also keen to work with volunteers across all areas of the industry, from investment decision making to HR, Marketing, and everything in between.
For school talks, we’ll provide you with a GAIN slide deck to use on the day. For university and programme events, these are usually more specific, and we’ll provide any necessary materials ahead of time.
Yes! We hold quarterly networking drinks to facilitate meetups between volunteers and the GAIN team. Keep an eye on our newsletter and events page to find out when the next event will be and register your place.
No. We have volunteering opportunities all over the country. If you’re based in Scotland or the North of England, join our dedicated LinkedIn groups to stay in the loop about what’s happening in your region.
Yes, a lot of our volunteering opportunities take place virtually. Details on whether an event is in person or online will be included on the event post.
