GAIN On Demand, a new free online course, aims to break down barriers, educate students about the investment management sector and help them develop key skills
September 14th, 2026: GAIN (Girls Are INvestors), the UK charity working to improve gender diversity in investment management, today announces the launch of GAIN On Demand – a new free online course designed to make careers in investment management accessible to students across the UK and beyond.
GAIN On Demand is a fully online, self-paced learning programme built to take students from initial curiosity through to career readiness. The course combines practical learning, real industry insight, and structured guidance on navigating career pathways into the sector.
The launch comes at a time when access to investment management careers remains uneven. While women represent 41% of the industry workforce, only 12.9% of fund managers (those in investment decision-making roles) are female1.
GAIN aims to address this imbalance by building a stronger, more diverse pipeline of early-career talent. In 2025 alone, GAIN reached over 12,500 students and supported more than 1,120 young women through its programmes. GAIN On Demand is designed to scale this impact further, removing barriers of geography, cost, and access.

But we’ve always known that our in-person work, while high impact, can only reach so far. GAIN On Demand changes that. It allows us to remove barriers of geography, cost, and access, and give any student the chance to understand the industry and see a place for themselves in it. This course is the next step in building a more diverse, more inclusive pipeline into investment management — and ultimately, driving long-term change in the industry itself.”
The course consists of three core areas:
- Understanding investment management
- Building skills and confidence
- Navigating the path to employment
The programme will also connect learners to GAIN’s broader ecosystem of insight days, mentorship, and internship opportunities.
GAIN On Demand is available globally and is free to all learners.
