Leigh Stationers’ Academy Careers Fair (times tbc)

Leigh Stationers’ Academy is hosting their annual Careers Fair and would love to welcome a GAIN volunteer to represent the investment management industry. The fair is open to all students from Year 7 through to Year 13, giving you the opportunity to engage with a wide range of young people at different stages of their education and career thinking. Each student will attend the fair for one period of the day and will be given an interaction card to record their experiences — making every conversation count. As a GAIN volunteer, you will have your own stand and the chance to share insights into what a career in investment management involves, the qualifications required and why it is such a rewarding industry to work in. The fair also features employers from sectors including IT, aviation, retail, creative arts, insurance, health and fitness, public services and construction — so the students will be getting a broad and inspiring picture of the world of work. No prior preparation is required.

An annual careers fair in Uxbridge where the school would like to hear about GAIN’s work supporting women and non-binary people into investment management. You will have a stand, with parking on site and lunch and refreshments provided, and can share your own career journey with students.

Speaker profiles can be at any level but should be able to contribute to a panel discussion focused on investing and wealth management, sharing their experience and insights into working in the industry and careers within the sector. Seeking 2–3 recent graduates or alumni with experience completing psychometric assessments during internship or graduate recruitment processes. Speaker profiles are those who can share their firsthand experiences, practical tips and strategies for approaching numerical, verbal and logical reasoning tests, as well as situational judgement assessments. This interactive two-hour workshop will help university students understand the different types of psychometric assessments used by firms, develop effective approaches to answering questions, manage their time and avoid common pitfalls. Volunteers will be invited to support the graduate insights portion of the workshop, including: • Sharing personal experiences and advice from their application journeys. • Leading live walkthroughs of sample assessment questions. • Highlighting common mistakes and effective preparation techniques. • Answering student questions and recommending useful practice resources. This will add 2 hours to your volunteering record with GAIN.

No preparation needed — simply join a small group of women from different backgrounds to share your career journey and advice with students from Year 9 to Year 13. We are looking for 2 volunteers for this brilliant opportunity!

Greenford High School — Mock Interviews (times tbc)

Greenford High School is looking for GAIN volunteers to support their Year 10 mock interview programme (aged 14–15). Your role on the day will be to act as an interviewer, giving students the chance to practise their interview skills and receive constructive, encouraging feedback — drawing on your experience in investment management to help them think about what employers really look for. A few tips to help you prepare: Have a few common interview questions in mind — such as “tell me about yourself” or “why are you interested in this industry?” Be warm and encouraging — many students will be nervous, so a supportive tone goes a long way Give specific, actionable feedback after each interview on things like eye contact, clarity and how they could strengthen their answers No materials or formal preparation needed — just bring yourself and your expertise!

Seeking a female professional working in finance who would be available to deliver an in-person workshop in Durham. Speaker profile is someone who can lead a practical and interactive networking masterclass for women aged 18–23, helping students build confidence in approaching industry events, engaging with professionals and developing meaningful professional relationships. The session should draw on the volunteer’s personal career experiences and provide practical advice on: • Approaching professionals and initiating meaningful conversations. • Navigating networking events and engaging with industry speakers. • Building and maintaining professional relationships through effective follow-ups. • Overcoming networking challenges, particularly as a woman working in a male-dominated industry. Seeking an industry professional from any background with experience in investing and the ability to deliver an introductory investment workshop. The session will be aimed at international students who are new to investing and looking to understand how to get started in the UK. The one-hour workshop would cover the basics of investing, different types of investments, key principles such as risk and diversification, and practical tips for getting started. There would also be an opportunity for students to ask questions and learn from the speaker’s experience. This would add 1 hour to your volunteering record with GAIN.
