Book Reccomendations

Over the years we’ve accumulated lots of great book recommendations from GAIN students, alumni and volunteers. Here’s the list so far!

  • One up on wall street - Peter Lynch. A brilliant book by Peter Lynch that allows readers to learn what stocks to avoid, how to decipher Wall Street jargon, how to design a perfect portfolio, and countless other ways to succeed in business and finance.

  • Women vs capitalism by Vicky Pryce. Women vs Capitalism is a fresh and timely reminder that, although the #MeToo movement has been hugely important, empowerment of the mind will not achieve full power for women while there remains economic inequality. Pryce urgently calls for feminists to focus attention on this pressing issue: the pay gap, the glass ceiling, and the obstacles to women working at all.

  • The Snowball: Warren Buffet and the Business of Life - Alice Schroeder. The personally revealing and complete biography of the man known everywhere as “The Oracle of Omaha”—for fans of the HBO documentary  Becoming Warren Buffett. The legendary Omaha investor has never written a memoir, but now he has allowed one writer, Alice Schroeder, unprecedented access to explore directly with him and with those closest to him his work, opinions, struggles, triumphs, follies, and wisdom.

  • The Outsiders: Eight Unconventional CEOs and Their Radically Rational Blueprint for Success. The Outsiders is about 8 CEOs who have enjoyed far better returns on company stock than their peers or the market due to their ability to allocate both financial and human capital.
